Teaching Studenst About Valuing Culture & Language in the Curriculum
Consider the challenges students face in the classroom when they are from more than one cultural heritage. Reflect on their academic needs in terms of language acquisition and language development.
View the presentation entitled ESL Strategies for Success and PBS website on the Middle East, Culture: A Rich Mosaic, to come up with a culturally responsive language learning activity that blends culture, art, history, and language acquisition. Below, you will also find a list of sample works of art that you are encouraged to use in your learning activity for your future classroom:

Guided Response: Provide feedback for your classmates. Let them know what you see as a strength and what else they can do to enhance their learning activity. Provide your classmates with at least one additional cultural or linguistic resource that is appropriate for the chosen topic(s). Help them to use the arts and history of the culture to provide a context in the language activity. Respond to two of your classmates.
