The organization that I choose to write my crisis action plan assignment is perfect for this exercise. It is an organization that is big enough and therefore they do certainly have their own crisis action plan in place. I am able to find enough information to write my crisis action plan. I will be able to find the information I need to complete my crisis action plan because of where I work.

However, I am still encountering a few challenges. I will have to interview people to support the critical functions that my organization must perform during crisis because they are not really referenced online. The second problem I am finding is that I am comparing my crisis action plan with that of the organization. I am questioning myself how realistic my crisis action plan would be if there were a crisis.

The bigger the organization the harder it is to write a crisis action plan that covers all the possibilities. There are so many threats that the organization I pick faces on any given day. I find the recovery plans for manmade disasters like terrorism and active shooter easier to talk about in my crisis action plan than natural disasters like flooding. I am having a hard time locating credible articles for my chosen fictitious threats. On a side note, the given template is very useful because I am not able to find one as simple.

A crisis action plan is supposed to be a guide for an organization when normal business is interrupted by unexpected major events like a natural or manmade disaster. The best crisis action plan keeps all sections in the organization in the plan. It is a challenge for me to include the sections that lightly contribute to the mission of the organization in my crisis action plan. If I were in charge of developing a crisis action plan for my organization, I would have had each unit develop their own crisis action plans first. Then, I would have developed one that would support the overall mission.
