DIRECTED RESEARCH DBA 780-784
I. RECOMMENDED TEXT:
Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, Seventh Edition (American Psychological
Association, 2020)
II. COURSE DESCRIPTION: During continuous enrollment in DBA 780-784, the student will
complete the submission of an approved proposal including Chapters 1, 2, and 3, and complete the submission
of approved manuscript including Chapters 4 and 5. The student will also conduct the research for the
dissertation in keeping with guidelines prescribed by the Institutional Review Board, University policy,
School of Business policy, and the rules of ethics, This course functions to emphasize social responsibility,
innovation, and accountability to foster a new form of leadership focused on creating vibrant and sustainable
organizations as an integral part of the dissertation and the DBA program as a whole. Prerequisites:
Candidacy Status. The committee identified and charged. DBA 765 completed.

III. LEARNING OUTCOMES:
Upon completion of these courses, the student will be able to:
l. Plan scholarly research that is of significance to the business environment and demonstrates the Candidate's

2. Produce an original written manuscript following the steps outlined in the dissertation milestones,

Note: Successful completion of this sequence of directed research courses (P) requires successful
completion of each milestone associated with the dissertation phase of the DBA program. Refer to

– Dissertation Progress Report, Appendix D – Grading Rubric
Doctoral Dissertation Originality Policy
To complete the degree of Doctor of Business Administration, the student must write and publish a doctoral
dissertation that is approved by the faculty and department director.
A doctoral dissertation must be based on scholarly work and peer-reviewed publications and the student shall be
the sole author of the written work. Co-authors are not allowed.
While students are allowed to hire a statistician to assist with statistical analysis results, the student is responsible
for interpreting the research findings and writing Chapters 4 and 5 in their own words.
Upon completion of the final dissertation, the student’s document will be submitted to Turnitin which will include
an originality report and an AI report that will be viewed by the faculty chair.
