This written assignment requires you to familiarize yourself with the two documents that have outlined the structure of government in the United States. As a basic foundation for this course you should understand the relationship between the state governments, the local governments, and the federal government.

Read both the Articles of Confederation and the Constitution (Link to both can be found on the article page on Carmen.)

Prepare two lists. One list should describe the similarities between the types of governments the two documents created. The other list should describe the differences between the types of governments they created.

Write in your own words a brief one paragraph description about how the role of the states changed after the Constitution was adopted.
