This Ted talk is particularly powerful, and the speaker, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, turned it into a book afterwards and has written and continues to speak on the issues that face society, particularly women and women of color. Feel free to watch through the video or read the transcript. For a current event, look for something on women's rights, women's movements, women's participation in politics, etc.

The first two questions on the Current Event "form" should be about the weekly concept, in this case, "feminism," then you will visit a news source (BBC, NPR, CNN, etc.) and find a current article related to the concept.

Provide/Answer the following in your own thread:

Title of news article

Source and link

Date of article (needs to be no more than two weeks old)

1. Explain the weekly concept in your own words (2-3 sentences)

2. Do you think this concept matters? Why? How? (2-3 sentences, must be more than simply "yes" or "no")

3. What is the article about? How does the article relate to the weekly concept? Why did you choose it? (5-7 sentences)

4. Do you think this article is important? Should people know about this event? What is its significance locally, nationally, or globally? (5-7 sentences)
