Dq response
One hour into the start of your shift, you receive a patient who is a mother and a female child of the age of 9. Their chief complaint is the child is having a fever. During the assessment process notice scares on the feet and ankles of the child. They look like scratches and one of them seems to be infected. You ask the mother “Where did these scratches come from?” She quickly explains “They come from her playing barefoot in the woods near the home”. You suspect more is happening from this since some scars look healed and some do not. You then ask yourself “If the mother wanted to protect the child’s feet, wouldn’t she make sure she wore shoes?” The child looks withdrawn and became afraid when you touched her feet. What do you do next according to your State's mandate?
