Please respond to the following:

  • When the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) was passed, the legislation guaranteed that it would not "mandate a State or any subdivision thereof to spend any funds or incur any costs not paid for under this Act." A requirement of NCLB has been that the percentage of students of schools and districts scoring a proficient level on state standardized assessments will increase each year. Most Title I schools will face sanctions if all students are not scoring at the proficient range for Mathematics and English Language Arts.
  • Read the article titled State Seeking No Child Left Behind Exemption Again.
  • Next, propose changes to the reauthorization of NCLB by identifying areas of concern from your perspective. Present your discussion response in a video dialogue.
