Hi class! The data provided in problem twenty-eight of chapter three of the assigned text demonstrates the number of days between delivery orders via the grocery delivery company Instacart. After making a frequency histogram, I was able to discover that the data provided has a mean of 12.9 days. The frequency histogram of the provided data regarding the Instacart orders also displayed a median of 8.5 days. When analyzing the data provided with the intent of describing the days between orders, finding the median of the provided data would be the most efficient measure of central tendency to utilize. The median is the best measure of central tendency to use to describe the days between orders because the mean illustrates the expected amount of time or days between the Instacart delivery orders. The level of measurement shown in the data provided could be classified as being at the ratio level of measurement. Instacart could use the information uncovered through collecting the data provided by organizing customers by how frequently they use the grocery delivery service, and by organizing customers as frequent customers, moderate customers, and customers that rarely use this service. Instacart can send the frequent customers deals or special promotions. In a similar fashion, Instacart could also send the non-frequent customers messages about the wonderful things they are missing out on by not using Instacart for their grocery delivery service.

Discussion post 2:
In this case, the central tendency for the number of days between orders is better represented by the median. The highest frequencies of days between orders are grouped into 5 through 8 days, and with a smaller boost around day 14, and another large group at 30 days. The median and mean are both getting weighted up in the number of days by 30 days being the largest interval of people reordering. but the mean is being skewed more by that right extreme. The measurements are ratio data, as days have a true zero point.
Instacart could use this data in a variety of ways. A major use would be applying this data to marketing plans, such as sending reminder emails and push notifications on day 4, day 12 or 13, and day 28 or 29 prompting customers to make their purchases slightly more frequently than they otherwise would through promotions. Another way tracking reorder frequency could be used is through predicting what days might have the most orders and incentivizing contract workers through bonuses for completing orders on those days to ensure there are enough hands to go around to create a consistent, high quality experience.
