Diversity In Law Enforcement

Law enforcement officers were traditionally white males.  Beginning in the 1950’s, there began to be a push toward increasing diversity among officers.  This included the hiring of minorities and women.  Why is diversity among the ranks of officers important?  What role does the democratic policing movement to create police forces that represent all groups within the community play in diversity?  Support your statements with professional studies.

How Dangerous Is Law Enforcement?

After examining the LEOKA (Law Enforcement Officers Killed and Assaulted) statistics provided by the FBI, answer this question: 

• How dangerous do you think law enforcement really is for officers?
• What types of attacks and weapons are most often used in attacking officers?
• Has law enforcement become more dangerous due to the recent anti-police rhetoric being promoted at the national level by numerous groups and individuals?
