Job Loss

Consider John, a long serviced accounting manager in a corporation.  He has been a successful manager for several years with this company. This company, however, has recently been acquired by another company, and he has been notified that his department’s duties will be performed by the acquiring company. He and his department’s employees have been notified that they are terminated immediately. As an interventionist, how would you counsel John to process through “letting go”, transitioning, and focusing on a “new beginning”.
