Of any leader who could possibly be studied, Christ would be the pre-eminent example.  This is not to say that Christ was only a leader; he was and is far more than that.  He is the Savior of humankind and our reigning King; however, leaders can learn much from his behavior. He took a stand for what is right during intensely hard times.  He forgave his enemies.  He laid his life down for others, even those who he knew would later hate him and reject him.  And he did all of this without developing an ounce of martyr syndrome (which is ironic, since he was truly a martyr!). He was only intent on glorifying the Father.  Our and others’ behavior and actions starkly contrast to Christ’s and show where we often fail.  But the beauty of the Gospel message is that Christ did not come to condemn; he came to convict and to save and to redeem.

  • Prepare to engage in discussion comparing the behaviors of one leader, good or bad, with the behavior of Christ in various situations. Include at least one academic source detailing the behaviors of a specific leader.
