Discussion post
It was noted in the reading that within John Locke's various writings following the Glorious Revolution in Britain, which constitute part of the foundation of liberal thought, there exists a fundamental tension between individual rights and societal progress. The question ever since has been where to draw the line when it comes to regulating individual behavior (e.g. gambling or marijuana use). As this is still an ongoing issue today, in this discussion please explain the tension in liberal thought and how you might approach the problem today. Here is a link to the English Bill of Rights (1689) for your perusal as well: https://avalon.law.yale.edu/17th_century/england.asp
