The Complex Simplicity of Breathing

Consider the different parts of the Respiratory tree. Now name them (be specific here -- NAME the various parts from beginning to end) and discuss why you think there is so much branching of these breathing structures? Consider if there is a functional reason for, or an advantage to, this type of structuring, and then compare and contrast two pathologies of the respiratory system and how the anatomy and physiology is interrupted by each.
