Discussion: Incarceration Community Reentry
The comparison between conditions of incarceration and living freely in the community is stark and more drastic than merely being in a cell. Ultimately, offenders are individuals making independent choices based on their communities, lifestyles, and their own perception of the world. Forensic psychology professionals must be aware of the experiences of offenders while incarcerated, the communities offenders are reentering, and the preparedness of the offenders to enter the communities, in order to help mitigate challenges and help reduce recidivism.
By Day 4
Post a comparison between conditions offenders experience when incarcerated with conditions offenders experience upon return to the community. Then, offer and explain your opinion on the veracity of the following commonly-held view among incarcerated offenders: "It's better to have three meals and a square than to be on the outside."
Be sure to support your postings and responses with specific references to the Resources.
