Discussion I: Critically Reading Literature

 

Shirley Jackson writes in "The Lottery:" The black box grew shabbier each year: by now it was no longer completely black but splintered badly along one side to show the original wood color, and in some places faded or stained. In a detailed 5-7 sentence paragraph, analyze what the black box symbolizes.  Respond to at least two classmates' posts. You must post your paragraph before responding. You will be graded on correctness, paragraph organization, grammar and mechanics, and response.
