DISCUSSION BOARD - EARLY CHILDHOOD

According to the text, at any educational level, including early childhood, there are two competing ideas: the importance of meeting the needs of the individual versus meeting the needs of society as a whole.  If parents are a child’s first teacher, at what point should the government step in and require the child to attend school?  What rights do parents have?  What rights do children have?  What rights does society have? What rights do you think they should have?
