“Families have high standards and ideals about their own children, and caregivers have a role both in affirming attitudes and beliefs already held and in helping to shape new ones. Where storytelling is concerned, for example, telling a father how much his two-year-old son loves to listen to stories may encourage the father to begin sharing stories at home; or it may reinforce the father’s standing belief that sharing stories is a worthwhile experience.”
Reaching out to fathers and male relatives and encouraging them to follow children interests and share their interest with their preschoolers can be accomplished, but how?
