Part of what made the 1970s women’s liberation movement and feminist activism successful was the way it spread so widely across the United States (and the world!). Thus, its visibility was an important factor in the movement’s growth.
Imagine that you’ve been asked to help the women’s liberation movement of the 1970s advertise and promote itself—and that you have access to the technology of the 2020s. How would you encapsulate something central about feminist activism in a form that you could easily share through social media? In other words, you could create
- a hashtag
- a meme
- a GIF
- a slogan
- a mascot
- or something else!
The purpose is to convey something meaningful and significant about the women’s liberation movement in a brief visual or textual “item” that could be easily shared to increase the movement's visibility. So that we can understand your decision, please write a short explanation (at least 75 words) in which you tell us what you created and how it relates to something you learned about feminism through the film She’s Beautiful When She’s Angry.
