Looking at the influence and advancements in medical technology in the United States, it is hard to believe that a meaningful balance could be achieved between clinical efficacy and the economic worth of the technologies. 

[1] Why should the system be concerned about achieving the balance? What will it mean to the system if this balance is achieved? (Think in the lines of Cost, Quality, & Access).
