Discussion 6
Have there been any changes in your attitude or teaching practices regarding the teaching of writing in the elementary classroom after reading Chapter 8 in the Reutzel & Cooter textbook? Describe your favorite activity or activities for getting your students to write. Why do you feel this is important? I remember as a young teacher, my "Bible" for teaching writing was the 1979 book If You're Trying to Teach Kids How to Write . . . You've Gotta Have This Book by Marjorie Frank. It is still available! Do you have a favorite resource for enhancing your writing instruction with elementary students?
Note: I teach 9th grade History.
