Nationwide, about 36% of women aged 25 to 34 have a bachelor's degree or higher, compared with around 28% of similarly aged men, according to the Institute for Women's Policy Research, a Washington, DC think tank.

In the US today, regardless of race & ethnicity, women now outnumber men in higher education at all levels of education (e.g., undergraduate, master’s, doctoral/professional degrees). In terms of the nontraditional adult learner, it has long been reported that being married is advantageous for men in completing their academic degree programs; however, for women, being married has statistically been an impediment to their successfully completing their undergraduate or graduate degrees. WHY do you think this is the case? Also why is there a difference in terms of education & marriage? In other words, why are increasing numbers of college-educated women marrying “down” (as some folks too often view it) and selecting more men without college degrees?
