Reflection Discussion 2:

How to Write a Formal Discussion Post with Citations and Scholarly Sources

Instructions

Recall that when you have completed this course, you should be able to demonstrate the ability to write clearly and effectively, using professional and empirical sources of information about groups and group processes. For this reflection forum, assume that you have been asked to write a discussion post on reference groups and depression.

Before you write your initial discussion post, you should review the How to Write a Good Discussion Board Tutorial

from Arizona Global.

Next, use what you learned about writing a good discussion board post and your perspectives and experiences. Assume that you have been asked to write a discussion post on reference groups and depression.

Based on the Arizona Global tutorial, what four things would you need to do before you post in this hypothetical forum? Give an example of each one. Which step are you most confident about? Which step are you least confident about? What can you do to increase your confidence about posting to a formal discussion board? Provide an example of one narrative and one parenthetical citation based on content from chapter one in your book.

Your initial post should be at least 200 words, and you should provide a complete reference for each source you cited.

Whenever you borrow content, you must cite your source. Be sure to cite and reference all assigned sources in each of your posts using APA style and be sure to use correct APA-style citations and references for all posts.

Submission

Be sure to cite and reference all assigned sources in each of your posts using APA style. Your initial post should be at least 200 words. Replies should be at least 150 words. All borrowed content should be cited. Be sure to use correct APA-style citations and references for all posts.

After you have posted your initial post, read and respond to two or more of your classmates' posts. Be sure to make substantive and constructive comments (just posting a “nice post” doesn’t count, nor does substantially repeating what your peers have said).
