The age for full Social Security benefits is 67 today, with more than one-third of people working past the age of 70. The ADEA was enacted to prevent discrimination against older workers.

• Discuss some of the underlying situations that contribute to discrimination by age and what companies can do to avoid decisions based on age alone.
