 As collegiate student-athletes navigate their college experience, they often encounter members of the academic community that hold stereotypes about student-athletes. Whether it is the stereotype that student-athletes have everything done for them or they are ‘dumb jocks’, these stereotypes not only have implications for student-athletes’ experiences, but also their identity development.

Using the required readings for this module, explore how these stereotypes impact student-athletes’ college experience.
