Governmental Reimbursement Programs

The cost of crime and crime-related expenditures is enormous, and the issue of governmental reimbursement programs for crime victims has been a source of controversy both currently and during past decades. Summarize the arguments that favor the establishments of victim compensation funds by state governments using tax revenue. Summarize the arguments that state governments should not provide such a reimbursement to crime victims. Explain your opinion as it relates to such programs.

The readings highlight various programs that attempt to repay victims of the monetary damages and the physical and metal suffering they endured as an outcome of the crime. Explain what should be done to ensure that the victim services that were identified are being provided to victims.
