Discussion 2: Reflecting on Cultural Humility and Ethical Competence

The goal of this course was to help you develop cultural humility and ethical competence. For this final Discussion, you will examine the progress you have made toward this goal and the specific areas that need further development. You will also consider how both cultural humility and ethical practice relate to and impact social change. 

To Prepare

• Review the Learning Resources on cultural humility and the Ethical Standards for Human Services Professionals. 
• Think about what you have learned and what you need to continue to work on to further develop your cultural humility and ethical competence.
• Consider how cultural humility and ethical competence relate to and impact social change.
• Find one article from an academically appropriate source that focuses on how to develop cultural humility and/or ethical competence. Academically appropriate sources include research articles.

Post a description of the areas you feel you need to develop in order to improve your cultural humility and ethical competence. Then, explain how you would develop those areas. Support your explanation with at least one article from an academically appropriate source that you found in your own search. Finally, explain how cultural humility and ethical competence relate to and impact social change. Use a specific example to support your response.
