Social Problems in the News: Healthcare Access in the United States

For your initial post, find a news article published within the last year that discusses the healthcare system in the U.S. Consider looking at the following sources listed below. If you select a different source than one listed below, remember to include a PDF of the article instead of a link to ensure your peers can view it.

In your post, summarize the article and explain how the article relates to American healthcare as a social problem. If your news source uses academic research or government data, state the research or data that it uses and briefly describe what it means. Which theoretical perspective resonates with you most for this social problem? Why? Do you think that the U.S. should have a national-centralized healthcare system? Why or why not? What do you think would be the benefits? What would be the drawbacks? Name at least one other idea you have to improve healthcare in the United States.  Respond to two peers who thought differently than you. Convince your peer why you think you should or should not have a national-centralized healthcare system.
