1. Read section 6.3 of Chapter 6: Groups and Organization. A common critique of society is that we are ruled and dominated by "...large and impersonal secondary organizations." (example: schools, businesses, healthcare, government, etc.) Earlier in the semester, we described your 'ideal' society in regards to social problems. I would like for you to describe (in your ideal society) which type of formal organization you would use (normative, coercive, or utilitarian - see section 6.3). (15 pts)

- Why did you choose this type of organization?

- Can you think of any current organizations that fit into the type that you chose?

- Read the section on "The McDonaldization of Society" towards the bottom of section 6.3. Do you think that this fast-food business model is good for society? Bad? Why? (10 pts)
