1.  What is the compelling  justification for mental health professionals, especially those working  with children and adolescents, to utilize current information about the  brain?

NOW, respond to ONE of the following case scenarios, considering what you have read about the brain and it's importance in overall functioning:

A.  What would you tell the parent of an 8 yr. old, referred by her  teacher for inattentiveness and daydreaming in class?  This child has a  history of early trauma due to abuse and neglect. 

OR  B.  The  parent of a 15 yr. old with history of concussions from playing  competitive sports since age 7 who has been referred for problems of  poor anger control and fighting at school?
