Hiring the best

Nicholas

As an HR professional, I would start my selection process by placing clear and easy to follow application processes and requirements via, company website, Social media, and online classifieds. This will not only save HR man hours but it will afford the applicant an opportunity to be as prepared for the interview as they can. I will also provide an option for video interviewing. Before I started the interview I would eliminate applicants on the basis that the applicant's resume did not meet the following minimum requirements. First, not having a succinct informal resume. Second, it having grammatical errors. Third, hearing bad recommendations from past employers.

Once I have dwindled down the chosen applicants I will call them for a phone interview. During this time I will ask to clarify anything that I have questions about and set up an in-person interview. I would also inform the applicants that they will be going through a few interviews, potentially 3-4. Multiple interviews will allow me to get to know the applicant on a more personal level (how we hire). During the onsite or video interviews, I would ask questions that are more specific to the craft they are applying for and ask them a few subject madder question so I knew they are qualified for the open position. I would ask what they have done in the past that had a positive impacted on their company. I would ask why they think they would be a good fit in the company. I would ask, from everything you’ve learned about this role, me and our company, how you feel you’d make a contribution. These questions will help HR paint a picture of how the applicant will perform but more importantly, it will show if the applicant has the skills, morals, and the vision that the company has. The applicant and the company need to have a collective relationship that will nurture the company as a whole. At the end of the interview, I would ask if they had any questions for me.
