In the 1960s, high school and college students wanted greater relevance to their studies. One part of this was a demand that schools be part of the process of social change. Can schools be more effective agents of social change? Should they be? What could be done to give students a stronger sense of their own agency, not only for learning but for taking what they learn outside the classroom and contributing to the changes going on around them? What might be the downside to schools doing these things?  APA citation
