Today I was shocked to see that several students did not complete the Week 1 Assignment 1and no one completed the Week 1 Assignment 2.  These are not optional assignments. I am not sure if the assignment was purposefully ignored or if there were unasked questions about what the assignment asked you to do?   In order to successfully pass the class all work needs to be completed on time to the best of your ability.  Thankfully, I am feeling super duper lenient tonight (tonight only). Everyone can submit the Week 1 Assignment 2 before midnight on Friday without late penalty.  Assignments (Week 1 Assignment 2) not submitted on time will not earn any credit.  However, I do expect everyone to submit this weeks Assignment 2 on time.

Below you will find some information on how to complete last week's SQRD and the one due this week.

For this assignment you are to...

• Locate one additional article related to one of this week’s case study topics, other than the one you used in your Discussion- This means if you wrote on ethics then you will go back into the suite of case study readings in Week 1 and select a different article related to the same topic of ethics.  The same for those who wrote on social privacy--select a different article other than the one you used to write your discussion post.
• Determine the main idea of the article-Ask yourself what is the main point (thesis) of the article you just read?
• Complete the Source Quality Rating Document found in the Week 1 resources.--Download and save the SQRD form and fill in the information on the article you read.  Use your EasyBib and Writing Center's information on how to cite and reference sources in APA when you are prompted to format a reference listing for the article.
• Craft a thesis sentence and topic outline that could be written in response to the article--One  a separate page place your thesis statement at the top of the page. The thesis (main point) is your take on what the main idea of the article you read is--for example let's say you read an article on social media and the main idea (thesis) of the article states "People should use use social media sites at their own risk."  Your response to the article might be, "People and social media sites should both be help responsible when using social media"--This is an example of how you might respond to the main idea presented in the article you read.  For this assignment your thesis is not what the original author states but how you feel about what you read.  After writing your thesis you will create an outline that develops the thesis you created.  So using the example thesis above... think of three reasons why both people and social media companies should share responsibility when things on social media sites go wrong and provide a couple of examples for each.
  
• Be sure to provide attribution, using APA formatting, for any sources used--If you include supportive evidence (data, quote...) from the article you read as examples in your outline then you will need to include an APA citation and reference listing for them (see example in Doc Sharing).
• Create one document that includes:  You cannot upload two papers for this assignment therefore you need to copy/paste/save both parts (SQRD & Thesis/Outline) onto one paper and upload it for grading.

I  have placed an example of what this assignment should look like in Doc Sharing.  Please note this is the template you are to follow for your Weeks 1-2 Assignment Paper.   For your Week 3 Assignment 2 you are to  create a more detailed outline using complete sentences. For the Week 3 Assignment 2 instead of writing general terms like "discuss"--you will include the specific information you will discuss.  I  have also included side comments (click on text boxes) to offer a bit more clarity on each section of the SQRD and outline.   If you have any questions feel free to post them in the Contact the Instructor area.

I have posted an example of what this assignment should look like.  The SQRD document is found in this week's resource area.  Feel fee to download the SQRD form and type your responses under each section.  However do not forget to delete the generic information found under each section. Also, this assignment consists of two parts: 1) SQRD and 2) Outline.  You will need to  copy and paste both parts onto one document as the assignment drop box only allows for one submission.

 Society often tends to attach a stigma to mental illness. Sometimes families try to hide such issues, or people don't feel they can come forward about mental illness in the workplace for fear of losing their jobs or being treated differently. Consider any one of the articles on mental health. Write a 250-word persuasive paragraph agreeing or disagreeing with the article
