Communication skills are basic and necessary for any successful person in life and work. Active listening, for instance, is one strategy that includes paying attention to the speaker rather than getting distracted by what he/she is saying. The last one, however, is the clarity of communication along with a straightforward message, which can be understood by the targeted audience. A further benefit of being aware of nonverbal cues including facial expressions, and body language can contribute significantly to the effectiveness of your communication (David, 2020).
Developing oral and written expression skills is important; it can develop new personal skills and thus grand opportunities in life. Some techniques for enhancing communication skills include practicing active listening, honing your nonverbal communication, such as maintaining eye contact and using appropriate gestures, clarifying your message to ensure understanding, and being mindful of your tone and body language. As a result, obtaining feedback from others and effortlessly continuing your efforts for better communication competencies such as communication abilities mixed with practice and self-education can help you greatly improve how you express your ideas and thoughts to others (David, 2020).
Strategies for professional growth through communication skills involve continuous learning and development. You also ought to get in the habit of taking as many chances to practice and enhance this skill in several circumstances like presentations, conferences, and networking events. On the other hand, it matters if you have desired and broad communication-related professional aims which can be very useful when you want to concentrate on your weaker points. Seeking feedback from mentors, colleagues, or professional coaches can provide valuable insights and guidance on how to enhance your communication skills (David, 2020).
Personal challenges examination is considered to be an integral part of evolution and developmental processes. By acknowledging and understanding the challenges you have faced, you can gain insight into your strengths and areas for improvement. While these difficulties can be demanding at times, they play a significant part in not only developing your communication skills but also in contributing to your evolution as an individual. Recognizing the techniques such as the ones you used to fight those challenges will help you to develop skills that can be used in future difficult situations (Henry, 2017).
Learning from classmates can be a valuable part of any educational experience. Observation of communication styles and techniques, receiving peers' feedback on your communication competencies, participation in group discussions to get decency from people with different backgrounds, and engagement in group projects to learn to work as a team are very important factors that you cannot ignore while contributing to the development of your communication skills in college life (Henry, 2017).

Overall this has been a productive and informative class for me. I've really enjoyed different focusing areas each week and hearing about my classmates' thoughts.
Some Key Takeaways: I've learned a lot about different aspects of communications in a business setting: different communication methods, secondary research, public speaking skills, etc. Each of those topics play essential parts not only at workplaces, but also for our personal lives. By learning those, I've rethought about the way I communicate right now, and has definitely seen areas of improvements. Now I'm confident to effectively and efficiently communicate with co-workers, leaders, even friends, not only verbally, but also in terms of writing.
Challenges and Growth: Some people might think communications should be pretty straight forward, but I still found few areas that I'm not familiar with or didn't do things the right way. One of them is copyrights of images and how to use outsourced images in presentations or any documents. This is something that I never paid attention to, and has always done it the wrong way. This is a great systematic learning to me and is extremely useful under a lot of settings. Another thing that I found handy is to learn how to write formally, especially to leaders or higher managers in the company. I've done those formal writing in the past so I thought I should be pretty good but some of the formatting or verb-age still have room to improve. Also by seeing some of the professional examples I can better understand the purpose and key points of writing.
Peer Learning: I've really enjoyed reading though each week's discussion forum and there has been a lot of great conversation happening. When you hear different aspects on the same topic it really start to widen the way you think. And it is very inspiring too to see how different our thoughts are that can lead to other related areas. I also appreciate my peers commenting under my post so I know if my words make sense and what are their insights towards my post.
Personal Growth and Goals: I think this course has prepared me well to further grow in my current position with a more professional way of communicating and managing things. Those skills are always useful no matter what industry I work with.
Course Feedback: This course overall is very productive and informative as I mentioned before and I've learnt a lot of great stuff and the course schedule and materials are well organized. The only thing is about all the reading materials - I usually like to download it because I might need to revisit after the course. I don't know if there is a better way to access it, but I'm also good to just save the link.
