When we make major purchases that cost a considerable amount of money, we may get a case of buyer’s remorse or cognitive dissonance.  You basically tell yourself, “Why did I purchase this expensive product, and did I make the right choice?”

  • Give an example of when you have purchased an expensive item.
  • Did you get the feeling of buyer’s remorse?  When (how soon after the purchase)?
  • Did the salesperson or company who sold you this item send you a thank you letter or provided some follow-up after the sale?
  • What can companies do in order to reduce buyer’s remorse for their customers?
