Thread: After reading the article "Behavior Study of Obedience" (located in the Reading & Study folder), reflect upon and answer the following questions:
- Given today's ethical and human subject standards, was the Milgram experiment ethical?
- What problem(s) can you identify in the Milgram experiment that conflict with Christian principals and guidelines for treating others?
- What is(are) a relevant Bible verse(s)?
- What are legal, ethical, human relations, or biblical issues you will need to be concerned about when conducting your dissertation research?
Replies: The textbook addresses the concept of progressive discourse. This means that anyone at any time can offer productive criticism. If the criticism has merit, it is listened to and accommodated. The process of debate assumes that the researcher has a moral commitment to listen to his/her fellow colleagues and to remain open-minded. Progressive discourse is the hallmark of science and produces a better product. With this in mind, politely agree or disagree with a classmate’s thread. Support your arguments with the literature.
