Overcoming Obstacles:
While obstacles can a lot of the time be inevitable, they can sometimes be preventable. A lot obstacles in our life begin at home, before even becoming an issue in whatever other stage of our life it is involved with. The beginning of many obstacles occur within a family because the patriarch is not leading his family properly. It is a man's biblical duty to be the head of his household and figuratively provide for his family. If the father/husband is not performing his duties properly as God has requested, the family can then be set up for many obstacles. Obstacles within a family can include religion, finances, discipline, and many more.
Becoming A Leader
Understandably so, many people are afraid of failure. Failure can be very heartbreaking, but can also set us up for success. Whether it is within sports, politics, education, or business; I am sure all of us can think of someone we admire that is successful that at one time in their life failed. Failure may ruin something or someone in the present, but can create a stepping stone to success, because carrying failure is the exact same as carrying wisdom. One can become a leader with more realistic expectations after failure because they have experienced the heartbreak and they have seen the successes of others. If becoming a leader did not require perseverance, experience, knowledge, and sometimes failure; then everyone would be a leader.
No More Excuses
Murphy's Law, "whatever can go wrong, will go wrong" is exactly why we should never have excuses. If we are supposed to expect the unexpected and know that hardships will occur then why do excuses even exist? God calls for us to depend on him and ask for his guidance. If we know that we are going to follow him and trust in him then are excuses are not valid. Trying to claim an excuse for some sort of issue or obstacle can be described as not having faith in God. All excuses should be labeled as lack of faith. Instead of making excuses for why certain things happen, we should have the faith that God will help us through whatever we are going through.
Standing Up For What You Believe
Daniel's story in the lion's den is a signifying passage for standing up for what one believes in. Standing up for what you believe is often times not easy, and it is definitely not always the popular choice. However, if as Christians we do not stand up for what we believe in, then what are we teaching the ones that we are trying to minister to? Standing up for your beliefs is paramount to ministry because it shows our faith in Christ, regardless of what the world is teaching us.

Chapter 2: Overcoming Obstacles
In this chapter, the author specifically addresses inevitable challenges we will experience and what it takes to go through them, which is courage in the name of faith. Obstacles are actually opportunities for growth, building resilience while placing trust in God’s plan. Joshua & the Israelites remind us that courage does not mean the absence of fear, but its willingness to act in the face of it. What seems impossible to us with God’s guidance becomes possible. In this chapter we learn the lesson of leaning on God’s strength to transform the obstacles of our lives into stepping stones, making us grow spiritually, more determined, and trustful of His promises in our journey through life.
Chapter 3: When Dreams and Heroes Die
In this chapter, we consider the sorrow of lost dreams and the death of role models, and how faith can hold us up when we suffer such painful experiences. There are many biblical figures whose lives of experiencing great disappointment and loss are overcome by having an unwavering faith that gave them a new purpose. This reminds us that God’s plan goes differently than we would, and often the shattering of our dreams is for a greater purpose. Instead of getting bitter, we’re encouraged that loss is part of God’s divine direction. Joseph demonstrates to us that even when you experience despair, God’s promises still hold true, moving us through grief and taking us to places of blessing and fulfillment beyond what we could have ever imagined.
Chapter 6: No More Excuses
This chapter details why it’s crucial to be responsible for ourselves and move by faith on not letting excuses stop us. Fear and doubt cause us to make excuses, reasons why we stop ourselves from living up to our potential, from being obedient to God. Revealed in the example of Moses, who became embroiled in feelings of inadequacy in leading the Israelites at first, the author explains how faith can conquer such emotions. After those initial doubts, Moses learned to trust in God’s provision and became a courageous leader. When readers allow self-doubt or hesitation to also doubt their worthiness or the right to engage and announce their purpose, God removes the obstacle and empowers His people to face our challenges and fulfill our purpose.
Chapter 8: Facing Your Weaknesses
The author of this chapter emphasizes the need to accept our weaknesses as the first step towards spiritual growth. Faith doesn't avoid our vulnerability so much as call us to speak of it with honesty and courage. The author illustrates this by using the example of the Apostle Paul, who discovered power in his weakness, and how God’s power is oftentimes workshopped through our limitations. When we open ourselves to be weak, we are open to lean on God’s strength and allow His grace to work through us. When we confess that we too fell short, we allow God to turn what made us feel vulnerable into stories of His strength that are powerful (Hindson, E. E. 2003).
