DB due 09/19/21/Listening Assignment

1. Students, as you have noticed, I direct that you keep your personal observations and opinions out of your written work (the Reading and Listening Assignments). 

For this discussion board, (and only the discussion board) I ask that you give display to your observations and opinions about the dichotomy that exists between Louis Armstrong and Bix Beiderbecke. 

These two musicians are noteworthy in their own right and between the two of them exists many differences and similarities that are both striking and, for a lack of a better term, dramatic

2. After the reading, answer the following in short description form of at least two paragraphs: Describe Louis Armstrong's musical life and recordings. Be descriptive in your answer and including names of musicians worked with and titles of recordings.  Be sure to include Bix Beiderbecke's role in jazz in your discourse. 

3. Write a one paragraph musical analysis using5  terms. Terms are: melody, harmony and rhythm, improvisation, chord progression, lead sheet, fake book, form, riff, trading fours, jazz standard, syncopation, dissonance 

Be descriptive about the music and leave out the subjective.
