You will select one industry that aligns with your future career goals and professional interests. Several industries utilize data analytics, including banking and securities, communication and media, healthcare, education, manufacturing, insurance, consumer trade, transportation, energy, and sports. Begin this assignment by reviewing 5 Industries Becoming Defined by Big Data and Analytics and 10 High-Paying Jobs That Require a Knowledge of Data Analytics. As you explore these resources, consider the following: How does each industry use data analytics? Which industries appeal to you the most and why? Which career fields are the best fits with your professional interests? Prompt Select one industry. Go to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) website and follow the Bureau of Labor Statistics Tutorial to learn more about the industry you selected. Specifically, address the following in your journal entry: What industry did you select? Why did you select this industry? How does it relate to your goals and interests? What goods and/or services is the industry known for? How might an analyst support the industry? What are the benefits of working in the industry? What concerns do you have about working in the industry, if any? Note: While using the BLS website, determine how you can best structure your search. For example, is it more effective to search by industry type or name, or to browse the list of industries known for using data analytics? It collects, analyzes, and disseminates essential economic information to support public and private decision making and provides products and services that are accurate, objective, relevant, timely, and accessible. Please review the tutorial instructions below, which provide you with two options to navigate the BLS website as you search for and discover industries that utilize data analytics. Searching on the Bureau of Labor Statistics Website
1. Go to the Bureau of Labor Statistics website. 2. There are several ways to start your search. You may type keywords into the search field located
in the upper right-hand corner of the page. 3. Before you begin searching, consider which keywords are necessary to find and explore the
industries that interest you most.
For example, if you review 5 Industries Becoming Defined by Big Data and Analytics and wish to search for information on banking, you can simply type “banking” in the search field to find information on this industry.
4. You will receive numerous results. From the Search Results page, you can click on each option
under banking to discover the specifics about that particular position on the BLS website.

5. You may also want to refine your search terms by adding the words “data analytics” to gain more specific results, as illustrated in the example below.
