Dashboard Create with Tableau
At this point you should be familiar with more than one data visualization tool, and it is time to make use of this new and different skill while building your second story.
Use either a data set from work, from your own collection, or from a reliable source - some examples might be:http://makeovermonday.co.uk OR fivethirtyeight.com/ (ideally pick something you find interesting - sports, finances, education, government - you decide). If you now want to tell something new with your previous data set that is acceptable.
As we have been in the course longer, you should have a better idea of the storytelling nature and as you think about what might be interesting to see or learn from this data - keep that end game in mind. Continue to practice the different techniques and key points covered in class and in the readings to create a dashboard.
The rubric for grading will consider:
- Overall concept of the story you want to portray in the dashboard.
- Proper use of color coding to keep the story in alignment and not distract reader.
- Good use of scale for the different visuals in the dashboard.
- Clarity of purpose.
- Cohesive storytelling (all visuals tie together and make sense).
- Highlighted insights should be obvious and understandable.
- Conclusions should be found and be brought together by the dashboard in its entirety.
