Cybersecurity Data Breaches

 Data breaches are now a way of life. The Privacy Rights Clearinghouse provides a continually updated list of recent breaches at https://www.privacyrights.org/data-breaches. Many of these are also listed on Fraud.org’s Data Breach webpage: https://www.fraud.org/latest_breaches.

For your first assignment, find a data breach that has occurred in the past two years and provide a summary of it in your own words. Include the following:

• Who was affected (both the organization and any end-users)?
• What was compromised (both the systems and types of data)?
• How did the attack occur? Include the threat and attack vectors used, if known.
• How could the breach have been prevented?
