his assignment asks you to write an essay exploring a topic, idea, or issue that intrigued you in your reading of Frankenstein.   A "lens essay' is an essay which relies primarily on close reading the literary text, but also responds to 1-2 academic arguments (in this case, journal articles), that address the same central issue or idea.
