current event

profileLaurie2001

Students are expected to work with their groups to analyze and report on a current event from their region. One submission is required from each team at the end of each topic.  A current event cannot be repeated without instructor approval and may only be considered in cases where there have been significant further developments. Analyze the event, do not just recap a news story. The "World" section of most news media is a good place to start (e.g., BBC World News, Reuters, Associated Press International, and The Wall Street Journal).

The summary and analysis must be between 150-300 words and include:

  1. Title of current event (e.g., "India Pulls the Plug on Another 47 Chinese Apps over Data Privacy and Security")
  2. The "Who" (key nations and people involved), "What," "Why," "When," (current event must have occurred no more than 3 months prior to submission date), and "Where" (location of the current event).
  3. An analysis of the potential ripple effect of the event within the region, globally and the United States (e.g., impact on the country's economy, trade industry growth or decline, supply chain, security, or employment).

You are required to utilize an approved reputable news source and include the relevant links to the story in your submission.

While APA style is not required for the body of this assignment, solid academic writing is expected, and documentation of sources should be presented using APA formatting guidelines, which can be found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center.

You are required to submit this assignment to LopesWrite. A link to the LopesWrite technical support articles is located in Class Resources if you need assistance.
