If you've heard the song If by the 70's super group Bread, then you probably already know that a picture can, in fact, paint a thousand words.  If not, then (a) look up the song on Youtube--I'm sure you've heard it, and (b) check out the Word Games discussion on page 8.5 of the webtext.  There are several examples of how words can be used to paint a very persuasive picture.  After you read this section, provide an example of one of the following, and explain why it is successful in terms of persuading someone to agree with or adopt a particular point of view:

  • euphemism
  • emotive language
  • innuendo
  • loaded question
  • weasel words
  • proof surrogate

These can be from your own personal interactions
