1. Sentencing:
   1. Identify and explain the three different sentencing models and their rationale. In your opinion, which one is the most effective? Why?
   2. Discuss truth-in-sentencing laws, sentencing disparity, and sentencing guidelines.
   3. In your opinion, what is the best sentencing model? Why? Please explain and provide support for your rationale.
2. Jails:
   1. What is the purpose of jails? Discuss two special populations in jails and discuss three ways to assist these inmates.
   2. Discuss two jail innovations. Why are they successful? Which one would you favor? Why? Please explain and provide support for your rationale.
3. Community Corrections:
   1. What is community-based corrections? What are the benefits to the offender and the community?
   2. Discuss intermediate sanctions, restorative justice, and victim-offender reconciliation programs. In your opinion, which one is the most effective? Why?

The paper will be typed double spaced in Arial using 12-point font with 1” margins in APA format. Save your paper as a .doc with your name and the assignment name in the file, using Last Name_Assignment. So, if your name were Alicia Jackson, and this is Essay 1, you would title it Jackson_Paper 1.
