I do not review your ratios for accuracy with the exception of checking to see that you downloaded the correct financial statements. I am only allowed to post the check figures for AMD which I will do this week under the Week 7 discussion area. To calculate free cash flow, we take the Net cash provided by Operating Activities less Capital Expenditures Less Dividends Paid.

Capital Expenditures are purchases of Property, Plant, and Equipment (PP&E).

AMD has $3,041,000,000 in net cash provided by operating activities and $636,000,000 million in capital expenditures and zero dividends paid.  Subtracting the $636,000,000 from the $3,041,000,000 leaves AMD with free cash flow of $2,405,000,000 or $2.4 billion in free cash flow.

Free cash flow is money that can be used to pay down debt, repurchase stock, pay dividends, and buy other companies.

Warren Buffet bases his investing decisions on free cash flow.

After watching the video that I just posted, please calculate the free cash flow for AMD using the financial statements required for the Course Project. Please share your calculation.

I always recommend reviewing your Nvidia ratios for accuracy as often the same type of mistake is made with the AMD ratio. Regarding the ratio commentary in column L, you consistently stated which company performed better, but please be sure to also define the ratio and state whether a higher or lower ratio is better.  The real-world of financial analysis is not easy. The best way to ask questions about the Course Project is to email which items you cannot locate and I can point you in the correct direction. Before submitting the final project, please complete the title page tab, complete the Profiles, complete all 16 ratios for each company with the calculations and commentary, complete the worksheet with your Summary and Conclusion, and complete your Bibliography worksheet. The 10k's, textbook, and any information you use to profile the companies should be cited as a reference. All references should be placed in alphabetical order. Please proofread your entire spreadsheet for spelling and grammar and check your ratios for proper formatting. I will be sharing the AMD check figures for the first 10 ratios under Week 7 and the last 6 AMD check figures under Week 8. You can make any changes right up until your final submission. I look forward to receiving your entire Course Project by Saturday June 27 at 11:59PM Mountain time. This is the last official day of the class. Please contact me if you have any questions.

Overall Requirement

Final Submission

Your final Excel workbook submission should contain the following. You cannot use any other software but Excel to complete this project.

1.  A Completed Worksheet Title Page tab, which is really a cover sheet with the names of each team member, the course, the date, your instructor's name, and the title for the project.

2.  A Completed Worksheet Profiles tab that contains a one-paragraph description regarding each company with information about their history, what products they sell, where they are located, and so forth.

3.  All 16 ratios for each company with the supporting calculations and commentary on your Worksheet Ratio tab. Supporting calculations must be shown either as a formula or as text typed into a different cell. The ratios are listed further down this document. Your comments for each ratio should include more than just a definition of the ratio. You should focus on interpreting each ratio number for each company and support your comments with the numbers found in the ratios. You need to specifically state which company performed better for each ratio.

4.  The Summary and Conclusions Worksheet tab is an overall comparison of how each company compares in terms of the major category of ratios described in Chapter 13 of your textbook. A nice way to conclude is to state which company you think is the better investment and why.

5.  The Bibliography Worksheet tab must contain at least your textbook as a reference. Any other information that you use to profile the companies should also be cited as a reference as well as the links to the financial statements.
