Wk 4 - Course Capstone Project - Interview
Assignment Instructions
In Week 1, you started to prepare for this interview activity. This week, you will interview an individual at a local public health agency (e.g., city, state, or county department of health services or state chapter of the public health association) about the incident you chose to research in Week 1. The purpose of this interview is to gain additional information about the incident for your position paper.
To prepare for this interview:
Research the public health agency related to your incident. Study the structure of the agency to identify the best job roles within it for your interview. It is a good idea to have several candidates from which to choose in case individuals are not available.
Contact the person(s) to schedule the interview if you haven’t already.
Write a draft of the interview questions ahead of time. Consider what information you need to strengthen your position paper.
**Your interview questions should help you explore the roles and responsibilities of public health agencies in environmental and occupational health incident response.
Interview the official from the public health agency in the incident area. The interview can be conducted in-person or virtually (an in-person or phone interview is encouraged) and should be recorded. Ask for permission to record the interview and include this dialogue in your recording. Take detailed notes during the interview. Review the document on research interviewing skills prior to conducting your interview.
After your interview, write a 525- to 700-word summary of your interview that includes your interview questions and the interviewee’s responses. You do NOT need to include the audio recording of the interview.
Submit your assignment as a Word document (not a PDF).
