1. Select three new examples of visual culture to further your collection. One must be a 2-D image (painting, logo, graphic design, photograph). Another must be an image of a 3-D object (sculpture, product, garment). The last must be an image of a space (interior, designed environment, public space) that you have experienced in person.

2. Select one of these three examples to research. Find relevant information on the social, political and economic circumstances that contribute to the meaning of your selected image. This information must be drawn from three scholarly resources, one of which must be a published book or article. Scholarly sources include websites at museums and organizations, such as the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, the Library of Congress, the New York Public Library, or the Smithsonian.

3. In 600+ words, synthesize your research, writing a careful contextual analysis of your selection. Using parenthetical citations, e.g. (Smith, 95), cite your sources for direct quotations and for any new ideas that you learned. See specific guidelines for parenthetical citations at https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/747/02/.

4. Prepare an alphabetized bibliography of your sources, following MLA style. See bibliography guidelines at https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/747/02/.
