concert report

First Assignment:

Watch a video of a concert on YouTube, and report on the same aspects as you would a live concert.

Name of composer.
Musical era (Classical, Romantic, Impressionist, etc).
Genre' (type of piece - concerto, sonata, symphony, etc).
Names of the movements (Allegro, Adagio, etc).
Tonality of each movement (major or minor, generally)
Description of melody of each movement (conjunct, disjunct)
Texture of each movement (polyphonic, homophonic)
Form of each movement (strophic or through composed will do)

Include as much of this information for each movement as you can.

1.Write a one page report describing your experience at each concert.

2. Include in your report the performing medium, the genre and style of each work, and the characteristic features you found interesting. Please describe and discuss each.

3. If the concert contains many short pieces, you may choose to write about three or four works rather than all of them. Again, describe the work in detail, using the vocabulary you have learned in class.

2nd Assignment:

Power Point Presentation

Create a Power Point presentation with information on any composer mentioned in the course.  Pictures of the composer, a list of their major works, a brief life history (bullet points), a YouTube link to a performance of one of the pieces, and any interesting anecdotes about the composer should be included.
