Compare and Contrast Group Structures

 Compare and contrast one group structure to another group structure. An example might be a well-known youth gang versus a mafia group. You must choose a gang and another form of organized crime group. Trace the history and origin of each organization and then create a historical timeline of each of the organizations that you have chosen. Include a description of each major obstacle or milestone in the organizations’ past. For the gang you choose, include any identifiers (symbols, colors, signs, etc.) of the gang. Examine the social dynamics of organized crime. Why are children and young adults attracted to organized crime? What is involved when a youth wants to join a gang? What types of things might they have to do to prove themselves to the senior gang members? What social pressures do youths or adults face that may cause them to get involved in organized crime? What are the benefits of being involved with organized crime? What are the disadvantages? What unmet psychological needs may be fulfilled for a youth when they join a gang? What are the ramifications of trying to get out of a gang?
