M1 Discussion - National Identities
Self-image of America?
Discuss the following questions. Provide references from the readings or internet resources to support your arguments when you can. Respond to at least two other postings.
1. Why do we study Comparative Politics? In other words, of what use is it? Consider - in your answer - both the personal and the political.
2. What constitutes national identity? What might be the "national identity" of an "American"? Be specific in discussing some of these characteristics. Why is it important? How might it inform such things as political attitudes and political culture? Do you personally feel an affinity towards these characteristics (if you are an American)?
